My book review is about How to train your dragon by Cressida Cowell. I like fantasy with magic and dragons. This is the first book about Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III. Hiccup is a Viking boy. He lives on an island called Berk and his father is the chief.  And when he grows up, he has to become the chief. Hiccup has a friend, Fishlegs. Hiccup is not like all the other Viking kids because he doesn’t like to fight. But when he is in trouble, he is very brave and very clever. In this book, Hiccup hunts for his own dragon egg and he gets one of the smallest dragons called Toothless. Toothless is really selfish but Hiccup is kind to the dragon.

In the story, Hiccup has to save the Vikings from another dangerous dragon called Green Death. Hiccup’s cousin is Snotlout. He is tall and loud. He really wants to be the chief when he grows up. So he bullies Hiccup and Fishlegs. The book is different from other books because people always want the hero to be kind and clever. But, in this book, Hiccup’s dad is disappointed that he is thoughtful and clever. Even Hiccup’s teacher wants him to fight and all that.  Another interesting part of this book is that you can learn about ancient Vikings in a fun way.

My favourite character is Toothless. I thought Hiccup’s dragon will be something big or scary scary, but this tiny dragon is rude and funny. Hiccup is very patient with toothless. I don’t know if I can be like that. I wish we could have real dragons. It will be sooooo crazy! Poor fishlegs. He is always scared or teased by Snotlout and the other boys. It’s like bullying in our schools too!

It is a good book with lots of adventure. You should read it too.
