Woof! Adventures By The Sea

I love Woof! Adventures By The Sea because it is a lovely story about animals, and tells us how important animals are to us and why we should be caring for animals who are being ignored. The story is set in the
beaches of Mumbai, where three stray dogs called Chocolate, Big Head and Orange find a cardboard box with a puppy inside. Their leader, Krya finds her and is worried that every day, every single day, a cardboard box lands up on the beach. Then, the story goes on to describe how the puppy grows up surrounded by her dog friends and sheltered by them. There is also an ending which makes us feel happy and heart-warmed, but you’ll have to read the book to find out more.

My favorite character in Woof! Adventures By The Sea is Shingmo, the puppy found in the box because she taught the pack how to be friends with each other. The author has also described her so beautifully, you want to say, ‘Awwwwwwww!’ every time the pup comes up. The excellent illustrations by Sagar Kolwankar will also appeal for kids, they are funny and smart and some pages have only the drawings. The author, Aparna Karthikeyan’s writing style is good to read for children, but I think it is also a book for adults who want to read a nice, dog story.

Personally, I would really love to read a sequel for this book, what happened to Shingmo, and all the other beach dogs? Do they go on to have a happy life? Wouldn’t you want to know? I sure would! Let’s have Woof 2!
