King Ottokar’s Sceptre

Among all the books I read, one of my favourite books is King Ottokar’s Sceptre. This adventurous detective comic book is written by the famous Belgian cartoonist Georges Prosper Remi, well known as Hergé. It is the eighth volume of the adventures of Tintin series. Here Tintin and his dog Snowy will go to a fictional country named Syldavia with professor Alembick. Professor Alembick is a sigillographer. A sigillographer is a person who studies about seals and is an expert in it. Syldavia’s rival country Borduria plans to overthrow the kingdom of the Syldavian King Muskar XII. But Tintin didn’t know anything about this when he was travelling with professor Alembick as a secretary. However, when he came to know about the conspiracy of villains, he tried his best to save Syldavia from its enemy.

I love this book very much. In the whole book, it was very hard for Tintin to differentiate between friends and foes. Tintin will fall into dangerous traps several times and will be able to solve mysteries through countless clues. He will even be sent to jail twice. But ultimately he could rescue the Sceptre of King Ottokar. As I said earlier, the book is an adventurous detective comic book. You must be thinking what is comic element here? Well there are two detective brothers here in this book,Thompson and Thomson. They have a tendency of messing up things. Also, you can’t even stop laughing to read Snowy’s wired act. This is another reason why I love this book so much.

I would strongly recommend King Ottokar’s Sceptre. It is adventurous, detective and also comical at the same time. If you want to read these types of books, you must read King Ottokar’s Sceptre. But I want to mention that this book seems a little bit rare to find in any store. It took me seven months to get the book after ordering in the book store. If you don’t want to wait, you can simply download and read the PDF version (though not giving the feel of reading a fresh paperback book!)
