Author: Mamta Nainy Illustrator: Sandhya Prabhat Book Review By: Jyoti Grade: 3 |
I read a book called A Saree for Ammi. It is about a weaver family. The father dyes the threads and the mother makes sarees to sell. They have two girls, one is big and the other is small. The mother makes beautiful sarees!
One day, the mother makes a very, very beautiful saree. So the small girl wants her mother to wear that saree. But the mom never wears the sarees she makes. So the two girls have an idea!
They count their money but they don’t have enough. They go and get all of the things they are not using to a man. The man’s name is Jhamu Ka Ka. They give him the stuff and he gives them some money but they still don’t have enough. They just need a few more.
They go to their next door neighbourr Amina Khala. The two girls went and helped her weave the threads. After they were done, Amina Khala gave them some money. Then the girls counted the money. And they had the right amount of money to buy their mom a saree!!!
The kids cared about their mother and they bot her one of her own sarees. If I was there, I would love to help them! I would have shared half of my money with them. My mom also has sarees. The sarees are beautiful.
You are such a sweetheart Jyothi. You are willing to help the kids out. God bless you.
Jyoti, The details in the saree are amazing! That is so kind of you to be willing to share your pocket money. Good for you!
