Five Fall into Adventure

Children's Book Reviews
Author: Enid Blyton
Illustrator: Eileen Soper
Book Review By: Pamela Marianne Jothiraj
Class: 3

The book that I am reviewing is from The Famous Five series titled Five Fall into Adventure by Enid Blyton. This book is about four cousins and their pet dog solving a mystery. I think only boys from ages 8 to 12 will like it. I don’t think girls would enjoy it because I felt it was a bit scary.

The setting is at a beach village with cliffs overlooking the sea. The cottage is close to the beach and this brings a vacation feeling. The main character Georgina is a happy girl who is always getting into trouble. She has a dog called Timmy who is brave.  Her three cousins Anne, Dick & Julian together with the pet dog Timmy make up the Famous Five.

The main plot is Georgina’s kidnapping and rescue. Help finally came from a gypsy girl Jo whose father was one of the kidnappers.

I like this book because it was very thrilling and my favourite character is Georgina. I like her because she has a dog and I love dogs. This book was very interesting with lot of suspense. I dislike one chapter because it was scary. I didn’t like Red Tower (one of the kidnappers) because he is cruel and rude.

The best part for me is when Jo creeps quietly as the men are fighting and locks the door with the giant key. What I learnt from the story is that you should treat everyone courteously because some day you may need their help when you are in trouble.

There are twenty-five chapters in the book and I took 5 days to complete the book. The black and white illustrations were nice. I would recommend you to read this book in your summer vacation because the plot happens during a vacation.
