Author: Ruskin Bond Book Review By: Shivani B. Class: 5 |
The Blue Umbrella is a 1980 Indian novel written by Ruskin Bond. The book was adapted in to a movie called The Blue Umbrella in 2005, which was awarded The National Film Award for Best Children’s Film.
The Blue Umbrella book is a simple beautiful story of a little girl named Binya. She was living in a village near Tehri road with her mother and her elder brother Bijju. She was having a pretty little blue umbrella that brings unbound happiness in Binya’s life. She carries it everywhere with so much love and affection. All the village people admired her beautiful umbrella and were jealous of her. They always thought about how did Binya manage to get an expensive umbrella. But she did not care about others. A old shop keeper Ram Bharosa also eyeing this prized umbrella.
The Blue Umbrella story gives valuable lessons about human goodness and kindness. Binya sacrifices her umbrella for the happiness of Ram Bharosa. This is an example of innocence and compassion. She is the great role model for all age groups.
I admire this story. Very small and sweet story. So I recommend you all to read this book would be more enjoyable and interesting. But umbrella is not everything. This displays her sensibility and humility. Binya gave it away to make someone else happy, without expecting anything in return. So I would recommend all Children 6 to 10 years of age to read this book because it is a playful book.
I will give this book 5 stars.
