Book Drive 2023 – 2024
The number of books collected for the yearly book drive is based on how many reviews we receive for that year’s book review contest. Reading about the fantastic work of The Lohit Youth Library Network youth volunteers inspired us to combine the numbers from 2023 and 2024 to contribute more books to their organization.
Tulika Books offered us a generous discount, and we were able to provide one copy of all the English books currently available, bringing the total to 166!
The Lohit Youth Library Network caters to the children of Arunachal Pradesh in northeastern India. The network includes thirteen branches scattered throughout the Lohit and Dibang Valleys, providing readers access to books in this remote region. Along with providing access to books, the youth volunteers who manage the libraries develop language and reading skills through read-aloud sessions, poetry recitations, and theatre arts.
