Wonder

The book “Wonder” written by author R. J. Palacio.

The story revolves around a 10-year-old boy, August Pullman, who suffers from a “craniofacial disorder”. He has never gone to a school. This story talks about how Auggie (his nickname) makes friends and spends the year going to school Beecher prep, a different environment than what he is used to.

Auggie and his mother Isabel visit the school and meet the principal, Mr. Tushman. There he also
meets three students, Jack Will, Charlotte, and Julian Albans, who have been studying there
since kindergarten. Mr. Tushman had requested the three students to help Auggie understand the school better. Then and there Auggie knew that Julian, who was the most popular boy at that time in the school, was going to try and get rid of him in all sorts of ways to keep his reputation sky high, and not to be affected by Auggie by any means, and that he would take it to drastic measures if needed. Jack Will and Charlotte are much more kind to Auggie than Julian, as they don’t act so defensive of their reputation as they feel that it doesn’t matter so much. In the book Jack states that ‘he has saved me from getting scolded by the teachers multiple times.’ So, he feels that Auggie is a trustworthy person and a helpful person.

Overall, the book is wonderfully written by R.J Palacio. She also puts in different parts of the story where the main character switches occasionally, so it gives a different perspective to look at.

This book Wonder is great! I’d probably rate it an 8.8/10.
