Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief
My book review is on “Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief” by Rick Riordan.T
This book has truly captured my imagination. A friend recommended it as a thrilling fantasy, and she was absolutely right! Set in the vibrant city of Manhattan, New York, the story follows Percy Jackson on an incredible Greek adventure. He discovers he is the son of a Greek god and embarks on a quest filled with challenges and excitement.
Percy’s journey includes navigating his relationships with his annoying stepfather, “Smelly Gabe,” and his kind mother, Sally Jackson. The book is packed with action: Percy finds a place where he truly belongs, makes friends and enemies, rescues his captured mother, deals with his stepfather, encounters Medusa and other Greek legends, faces near-death experiences, and becomes a wanted figure across the country.
My favorite moment is when Percy gives Medusa’s head to his mother, suggesting she turn Smelly Gabe into stone!
Annabeth is my favorite character because of her ability to stay calm and rational in difficult situations.
I wholeheartedly recommend this book to my friends. It’s funny, thrilling, and simply wonderful! Reading it makes me feel like I’m part of the adventure, experiencing every twist and turn alongside the characters. It’s like being on a rollercoaster. I’ve also learned so much about Greek gods, characters, symbols, culture, and heritage.
