Catchy, isn’t it? Well, if you like this message, then you’ll definitely enjoy Yorick Goldewijk’s book, Movies Showing Nowhere. When I first started reading it, I found it a bit dull. However, I kept reading, and wow, this book has become the best one I’ve read in June!

This captivating book tells the story of a twelve-year-old girl named Cate, who lost her mom just one minute after she was born. She spends all her time thinking about her mom and is surprised to find that she has only two items belonging to her mother in the entire house. Her dad hardly ever talks to her and has never mentioned anything about her mom. She hates her grumpy, nosy maid, Cornelia, who talks to Cate as if she were Cate’s mom. She discovers an old abandoned cinema (theatre) in which she sets out to find the secrets tucked within.

This book is a wonderfully written page-turner with a thrilling plot. And if you don’t like horror stories, not to worry. This book is totally horror-free, but a roller coaster ride and mysterious.

The cover page itself is so captivating, it made me want to read it a million times again!

I totally loved the part where Cate sees her mom again in her memory, and how she gets to be with her, ask her a few questions, and gets all teary and emotional. I feel that this was the main part of the book. I adore how it is put in such a gentle, touching way. I also love how Tubs calls Cate “sock” because of her random, mismatching socks! 😄🤣

This book totally cracked me up at some points, made me emotional at some points, and also made me feel, “Oh my gosh, why is he/she so annoying!”

This book is recommended to people who love memories, magic, and, of course, loads and loads of drama. Ages 10 and above should definitely read this book. I give this book a five on five for the structure, plot, and language.

In short, “Movies Showing Nowhere” is an absolute treasure! Yorick Goldewijk has created an emotional and thrilling ride that you’ll love. If you’re into stories with magic, drama, and a bit of nostalgia, this book is a must-read. Grab a copy from Amazon and indulge in the world within!

Happy reading! ✨
