Matilda

Matilda by Roald Dahl is a funny and magical story about a young girl who is extremely intelligent and loves to read. Unfortunately, her parents do not appreciate her talents and treat her poorly. When Matilda starts school, she meets the kind Miss Honey but also faces the cruel headmistress, Miss Trunchbull. Matilda soon discovers she has mysterious powers, and she decides to use them for good.

I loved this book because it shows how a child can be strong, brave, and clever even when adults are unfair. Matilda’s love for books and learning reminded me how important reading is. Her smart tricks on her mean parents made me laugh, and her friendship with Miss Honey was very sweet and heartwarming.

My favourite character was Matilda herself. She was not only intelligent but also kind and courageous. She didn’t let her small size or her parents’ behavior stop her from standing up for herself and for others. I admired how she handled Miss Trunchbull without being scared.

One thing I learned from Matilda is that sometimes grown-ups are wrong, and it’s okay to question them if they are unfair. It also taught me that intelligence isn’t just about knowing facts — it’s also about using your brain in the right way. If I were in the story, I would’ve wanted to be Matilda’s friend and help her play tricks on the horrible adults! I also think I would’ve told someone about Miss Trunchbull’s behavior earlier.

I would definitely recommend this book to other children. It’s funny, exciting, and full of imagination. The characters are unique and memorable, and the story has a powerful message about standing up for what’s right. Even though it’s a fantasy, it feels very real because it talks about real emotions — like being ignored, lonely, and then finding someone who understands you. In the end, Matilda is a story that makes you cheer for the little hero. I think everyone, no matter their age, can enjoy and learn from it.
