Fish in a Tree is a book written by Lynda Mullaly Hunt. It is about a girl named Ally who has trouble reading because of a condition called dyslexia. She is bullied by a snobbish girl in her class but one day she is defended by a new girl at her school. Her name is Keisha.
They become best friends and then they make friends with a quiet kid named Albert. Later we get to know more about Ally’s family like her father who is in the army and her grandfather who thought she was very talented because she liked art and was truly good at it.
Fish in a tree spreads a really important message: Great minds don’t think alike. This means that not all people think alike and doing that is great and not wrong. Imagine what the world will look like today if great thinkers, creators, or philosophers didn’t think differently or ‘out of the box.’ For example, Thomas Edison was called addled by his teachers but he didn’t let that stop him he dropped out after only three months of formal education. His mother had home-schooled young Edison.
Just like Ally was called different by her peers and teachers until one teacher: Mr. Daniels saw the bright and creative kid beneath the troublemaker
I recommend this book as it is one of those books which you can read over and over again and still find interesting or find new meanings. I love this book as it is different ans it gives important messages and I find this book to be very hopeful. I love Keisha as she is very bold and a good friend. Albert as he is very smart and a good friend. And of course, our protagonist Ally is extremely smart, good at mathematics, and a talented artist. Also if you’re not a fan of reading then this book has a movie on Netflix by the same name.
