Bookasura: Adventures of Bala and the Book Eating Monster
This is a story about a book-loving daredevil boy named Bala and a book-eating many-headed monster called ‘Bookasura’. The story is set up in a rural area of Melagam. The monster used to force Bala to feed him books, which in turn made Bala so sad. Bala finally defeated the monster using the brain-rotting power of television. In the end, Bala was able to tame the monster by lulling him to sleep, by means of reading books to him every day.
I would definitely recommend everyone, both adult and child, to read this book as its very fun and interesting story, which tells us about the importance of reading.
My favourite character from the story is Bala, because he is a bibliophile, just like me. He also fought with the monster courageously and defeated him with his smart thinking.
I liked the part when Bala acted as sly as a fox and defeated the evil monster, but the part I didn’t liked was when Bookasura gobbled up all of Bala’s storybook.
This book also taught me that reading makes you as smart as a cookie and gives you confidence to deal with any situation bravely. It also taught me that we should always listen to our adults, as they know the best.
However, if I were Bala, I would have thrown the Bookasura out of the house in the blink of an eye instead of trying to calm him down.
