Learning a New Language

Posted on:

Learning English as your second language can be hard and frustrating. English is my fourth language and it was hard and frustrating for me too. The school that I went to was really good.  The teachers were good at explaining things, and I learn things quickly, so it wasn’t too frustrating. Some people might say “Oh she/he doesn’t know English, she/he is in ESOL,” but it’s not a bad thing if you just started learning English.

Some people feel ashamed of themselves and it stops them from trying different things.

Some people feel ashamed of themselves and it stops them from trying different things. There are a lot of different people that are learning English. Even some adults learn English. So, don’t be ashamed of yourself because you’re learning something new, and your friends aren’t. When I started learning English, it was hard for some people to understand, but some did, because they were also learning English.

So, don’t be ashamed of yourself because you’re learning something new, and your friends aren’t.

In my class, I had a bunch of students that were learning English. Now, some of them are excellent in English, and some are out of ESOL now. I’m not fluent at English yet, but, I’m getting there! Some people don’t learn English like you because English is their native language. I have some friends that aren’t learning English, but we still get along well! Some people don’t want to be your friend because you don’t know English, and because you’re in ESOL. Don’t worry about that. Those people shouldn’t stop you from trying new things. I encourage you to try new things that you love and have fun!
