The Story of Ferdinand

I read the book The Story of Ferdinand. The author of the book is Munro Leaf. This book is for kids who like funny and interesting stories.

Ferdinand was very different from all the other bulls. He did not play with them. He liked to sit under a tree and smell the flowers. His mother was worried, and she told him to play with the other bulls. But he told her that he was happy and liked the flowers. She said okay.

When Ferdinand grew up, he became the biggest bull. One day, some men came from the city. They wanted to find a strong bull for the bullfight. The bulls were all pushing and fighting to show off. But Ferdinand did not care. He went to sit under his tree. He sat on a bee by mistake, and the bee stung him. That made Ferdinand jump and scream and run around. The men heard the noise and saw the big bull. They thought he will be a good fighter bull. So, they took him with them to the city of Madrid.

The city was decorated with flags, and all the people came to watch the bullfight. The women put so many flowers on their hair, and the men came with sharp weapons. The matador came to fight the bull. The bull came out last, and everyone thought he was going to attack the matador.

But Ferdinand sat down and smelled the flowers in the women’s hair. There was no fight. So, they took him back to his field near the tree.

I thought the book was interesting because Ferdinand did not do what everyone else was doing. He had his own way of doing things. It was too funny when he sat in the bullfight instead of fighting. It was also nice when his mother said it was okay for him not to fight. This is a five star story for me.
